Step into a world of imagination and connection with Dear Hope Street, a free, creative project for kids aged 6 and up, proudly funded by IGO. Using Google Street View, children will explore a Hope Street somewhere in the world and write a personalised postcard to its residents.
Part drawing, part writing, and part imagining life in other places, these postcards are like modern-day messages in a bottle. Each card will be numbered, photographed, and placed online at www.dearhopestreet.com before being sent across the globe. Recipients will be invited to respond, turning this into a truly global conversation.
Led by visiting artist Alex Desebrock from Perth (Whadjuk Noongar), this workshop reflects her passion for creating insightful, high-quality arts experiences for children. Known for her “gently radical” approach, Alex connects children’s ideas with adults in meaningful and playful ways.
Session Times:
10:00am–11:15am
11:30am–12:45pm
1:00pm–2:15pm
All materials are provided, and sessions are free. Please note:
Each child may only attend ONE session.
Children under 8 years may need a writing helper. Parents are welcome to sit in on any KickArts session.
Each participant must bring their own tablet or device with internet connectivity to look up their Hope Street house.
Don’t miss this chance to send your creativity flying across the world!
